Pulkovo Airport Targets New Cargo Airlines

The Northern Capital Gateway LLC, managing company of Pulkovo Airport, targets new cargo airlines, expanding its presence on the cargo market.

 

Currently the amount of cargo flights departing from St. Petersburg is moderate, leaving Korean Air as the only foreign cargo airline that has regular cargo flights from Pulkovo. The airport’s strategic goal is to attract new cargo airlines from Asia and the Middle East.

Pulkovo airport already has all the necessary infrastructure to handle freighters. In 2013, a new cargo apron has been put into operation and it is suitable for all aircraft types. Pulkovo Cargo Terminal, company providing cargo handling at Pulkovo Airport, is the largest of its kind in the North-Western region, notably ranking among the top five Russian cargo terminals. The total functional area of the facility is about 12,000 m², with about 6,000 m² occupied by warehouses and the cargo acceptance and delivery area. 

To encourage the development of cargo flights in St. Petersburg, Pulkovo airport has prepared a special incentive program for airlines providing discounts on airport charges and fees. The Incentive Programme for Cargo Flights was put into effect in October 26^th, 2014. Now airlines starting regular cargo flights can get significant discounts up to 45% on take-off and landing and aviation security fee and up to 40% on ground handling services. The Incentive Programme for regular passenger flights has been in place at Pulkovo since 2011, when the Pulkovo Airport Route Development Regulation came into effect. The St. Petersburg airport has been actively developing its cooperation with airlines, and is always offering new opportunities for its Russian and foreign partners.

The Pulkovo Cargo Terminal

The Pulkovo Cargo Terminal provides ground handling of mail and cargo carried by regular and charter flights of foreign and Russian airlines. It also provides agency services for booking and sale of air cargo flights, customs clearance for freight operations, and a wide range of warehouse, terminal and specialized services.
